Club Med Punta Cana is a four-pearl, oceanfront all-inclusive resort that's popular with families and 10 minutes from Punta Cana's international airport. The resort's 630 rooms have modern interiors with tan daybeds, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, and balconies or terraces. Some rooms have mini-fridges, but none include alcohol. The resort's stunning long, sandy beach is lined with lounge chairs and a beachfront Cirque du Soleil circus school.
The three restaurants are delicious and even the table wine is tasty. Other amenities include two outdoor pools, free non-motorized water sports, a full-service spa, modern gym, and huge kids' club. Upgraded Tiara packages are available with swisher rooms, a private lounge, infinity pool, and bar. Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts is another family-friendly all-inclusive with more exciting water features and a pineapple-shaped villa. Club Med Spa by L'Occitane offers standard services like massages, facials, body scrubs, manicures, pedicures, and haircuts. The theater has nightly entertainment and multiple table tennis are located nearby.
There's an on-site doctor's office and shops include a cigar store, clothing boutique, arts and crafts shop, liquor store, and a kids' store. Upgraded Tiara room packages are available with extras like a private infinity pool, private lounge, and all-day room service. The Zen Oasis adults-only area with a huge pool, private beach, and Wellness bar that serves alcohol and healthier drinks and snacks.
The resort can arrange tours, taxis, airport transfers, car rentals, and babysitters. Options for family members include age-specific programs ranging from playtime at a baby gym to circus school, art studio, cooking, dancing, and sailing. Sports are huge at this Club Med, so if your family is the active type, you're in heaven here. The Flying Trapeze Academy is as fun as it sounds -- an authentic chance for adults and kids to take lessons while flying along in a safe harnessed-in environment.
The resort's excellent Tennis Academy has daily or weekly programs for both juniors and adults run by skilled coaches. There are 20 courts, including illuminated ones for night play, and lessons are available to kids ages 4 and up. The resort's Fitness Academy, for those 16 and older, has a nonstop schedule of things like Zumba, Pilates, BODYPUMP and water aerobics.
And the Golf Academy, held at the resort's 18-hole course, has group offerings for kids from ages 4 and up, too. There's even a Beach Volleyball Academy here with group lessons included in the all-inclusive rates. Other included sports include basketball, Ping-Pong and bocce ball. Prepare for some exhausted kids come nighttime, in other words.
Traveling to an all-inclusive resort with children under four can be a challenge, as the majority of resorts tend to offer kids' clubs for the 4- to 12-year-old set. At most of their family- oriented properties, the children's programs start at 4 months, not 4 years. Other activities at the resort vary widely; each day a new schedule comes out with a theme such as Sports Day.
Yoga, poolside games, basketball, ultimate Frisbee and spinning classes are just a small sampling. There's even circus training onsite, complete with a flying trapeze that both kids and adults can try out. In short, this is a perfect resort for an active family with energetic kids who hate to be bored. While Port St. Lucie is located on that Atlantic coast, this is not an oceanfront resort. Instead, Club Med Sandpiper Bay is set along the Port St. Lucie River. It has a sandy beach, multiple pools, and circus-style trapeze lessons, plus a spa and a fitness center.
Club Med has legit bragging rights for several family-oriented sports academies offering instruction for adults and kids in tennis, golf, swimming, and volleyball. The Marketplace is the primary resort dining location and features a fully loaded buffet. One of our favorite items was the daily crepe at lunch – we tended to go for the chocolate caramel variety. The entrees ranged from the standard to the exotic (Duck l'orange and lamb).
Soleil is the sit-down snack bar that serves light sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. Finally there is the Riverside Grill & BBQ, which offers a slightly more formal dining experience. This all-inclusive family resort in Florida has something for everyone, from our kids splash zone to our adults-only infinity pool. Improve your form at our Sports Academy with top coaches in tennis, golf and football. Try your hand at wakeboarding or sailing on the river.
Or spot alligators with the kids on an airboat ride through the mangroves. Explore Florida your way at Club Med Sandpiper Bay. Without a doubt Club Med Punta Cana's beach is the top draw. It's lined with lounge chairs, umbrellas, and there's an adults-only section -- a big plus at this otherwise mostly family-friendly property. All stays include free non-motorized water sports including kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, windsurfing boards, snorkeling equipment, and small sailboats.
Kite surfing equipment and lessons are available for free. Surfboards are also available to borrow for free, but there's a fee for lessons. There's a PADI-certified dive shop with classes up to Advanced Diver. For Spring Break my family and I traveled to the newly renovated Club Med Sandpiper Bay.
Club Med is one of my favorite family vacation spots because it is all-inclusive and there is so much for the kids to do . Because our kids are such different ages, it is hard to find vacation resorts with activities of interest to both of them. We have taken a cruise before and with my apologies to the cruising fans, we all hated it. The price is all-inclusive, the food is good and plentiful, the staff is fun and the destinations are sunny.
The atmosphere is very casual, kind of funky and very international. We've been to Sandpiper before and also to Punta Cana and wanted to try Ixtapa, Mexico but we couldn't find any reasonable flights. Sandpiper Bay is near West Palm Beach, Florida, just a short 90 minute flight from Atlanta; flights are plentiful and inexpensive. We were also curious to see the new renovations. As with most all-inclusives, it's hard to go hungry at Sandpiper Bay.
The main dining area is located in the Marketplace, which serves three enormous buffet style meals a day. There is a huge selection of international-inspired entrees for the adults and teens in the family, and a kid-oriented area with fare such as hot dogs and chicken nuggets. Friendly chefs serve up a variety of choices at the pizza bar, plus fruits, salads and delicious handcrafted desserts.
Club Med is at heart a French company and the variety of bread is amazing. If you visit, make a beeline for the chocolate bread . Okay, if you think Utah weather is fun (snow in May?!?)… Florida weather is insane and my kids loved it. A sunny day turns into a torrential downpour, complete with hail, in a matter of seconds.
We would be out playing a family game of basketball and then running for our lives when the sky starts instantly dumping buckets… or barrels of water. Then 5 minutes later, you're good to go back out and then the whole process repeats itself, but the next time you're in the pool, or playing volleyball, or golf. My kids were pretty impressed with the newly created lakes outside our room door. As a huge Peppa Pig fan, Grace couldn't get enough of the 'muddy puddles!
' And, a lot of times we didn't even run for cover. Looking beautiful and having hair fuzz-free was the least of our interests. … I think I wore lounge or workout clothes the entire time. Not one of my 'cute outfits' made it out of the suitcase, and I was totally okay with that. Serving breakfast , lunch and dinner , this centrally located restaurant is the main eating hub and where you are likely to spend most of your meals.
Feel free to let the kids free range here to fill their plates with their favorite things. Choose your table, indoors our outside on a terrace overlooking the river, then hit the buffet for a delicious selection of international foods. Breakfast has omelet stations, and all manners of hot bacon and potato dishes, as well as fish, fruit, smoothies, French pastries and more. There's so much selection at every meal, you'll hardly to be able to try it all in a day, not to mention a week.
There's usually a crepe station several times a week, which kids love, and GOs scooping out ice cream elsewhere. Moms appreciate the "Baby Corner" area, with microwaves and small plates and bowls for preparing baby meals. Take in the spectacular views of the Saint Lucie River while dining at this pool-front, non-smoking restaurant. Offering a range of international dishes, including Asian, Italian, Mexican and American cuisine, you'll never run out of scrumptious options to satisfy your every craving. If you're looking to make healthier choices throughout your stay, look no further.
We also offer a great selection of low-calorie, guilt-free dishes that are sure to delight your appetite. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this buffet-style eatery is the perfect spot for the whole family to chill-out while they munch-out. It was a bit cold earlier in the week but warmed up nicely by the end of the week.
One of the other appealing things about Club Med and their "baby club Med" was that they offer childcare! We wanted to spend a lot of time with Riese and to have a lot of family fun on the trip, of course, but we also thought it would be nice to have some adult only time, too. Where Club Med really stands out from the all-inclusive competition is with its delicious restaurants. Hispanola is the oceanfront buffet restaurant with a towering thatch roof ceiling, that serves an international breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There's a baby food preparation area and the hotel also provides baby food.
Samana is the indoor international buffet that also serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There's an adult-only section and imported Italian ice cream available for dessert. Indigo is the oceanfront lounge with an a la carte menu that also serves international cuisine. Bars and lounges are also scattered throughout the resort for alcohol and soft drinks.
What an incredible time I've had here at Club Med Sandpiper Bay with all the water sports, activities, fantastic food, amazing staff. Don't forget call your travel agent when you're ready to explore Club Med. Families have endless ways to spend their days here. On property, there are Hobie Cats, SUP and kayak rentals for forays out into the river .
The three onsite pools range from an adults-only pool to a splash pad for your youngest ones. The expertly managed kids camp keeps them entertained all day with everything from cooking classes and pool parties to arts and crafts and dance lessons, scavenger hunts and talent shows. Golf and tennis lessons and clinics are held throughout the day. And should you tire of all there is to do onsite , day trips to Miami, Orlando, the beach and even air boat rides in the Everglades can all be arranged.
Everything is included, in best Club Med style, and the instructors and children's club staff are top-notch. Its modern, village-style look extends to the gorgeous spa by L'Occitane, while the accommodations are spread out over seven three-storey buildings grouped along the riverfront. Club Med's Sandpiper Bay is the perfect resort for the right person.
Not every resort is the right fit for everyone. If you go in with the right expectations and are looking for the type of experience that Club Med offers, you will be very satisfied with a vacation at Club Med Sandpiper Bay. It is especially inviting for active families who love sports and want to take advantage of the high-quality lessons offered. This resort isn't for someone who wants ultra luxury or is into partying into all hours of the night.
Sandpiper Bay is geared towards families so it wouldn't be a top honeymoon choice to offer my clients. It does have a beautiful gazebo for destination weddings and would be a great place for a laid back multigeneration wedding. The property's gym is stocked with Life Fitness treadmills, stationary bicycles, rowing machines, TRX equipment, dumbbells, weight machines, free weights, and kettlebells. Free fitness classes are offered and include spin, Zumba, and oceanfront yoga. There are six tennis courts with free rackets, balls, and tennis lessons. There's an archery range, mini-golf course, and a driving range with free golf lessons included with all stays.
Creactive is Club Med's Cirque du Soleil circus school with a trapeze and other circus-esque equipment for guests 4-years and older. Club Med Punta Cana's located along a gorgeous sandy beach in central Punta Cana, the original development that led to the town becoming a top Dominican Republic tourist destination. There's nothing walkable from the resort, but Punta Cana Village, with its restaurants, shops, fast food eateries, a pharmacy, doctor's office, and supermarket are a nine-minute drive away. An adventure park with paintball, zip lines, Zorbing , and a turquoise swimming hole with a waterfall is a 15-minute drive from Club Med. Dolphin Discovery, where guests can watch, interact, and swim with dolphins in the ocean is a 20-minute drive from the resort. The nearest golf course, with stunning Jack Nicklaus-designed oceanfront holes, is a 20-minute drive from the property.
Monkeyland Punta Cana, a reserve with spider monkeys, is a 21-minute drive from Club Med. A bit further afield, Saona Island has pristine beaches teeming with starfish that are an hour and 15-minute drive and boat ride away. Punta Cana International Airport is a 10-minute drive from Club Med Punta Cana.
